Strengths 101: Introduction for Educators

Great teachers do things differently than average teachers. Regardless of their unique abilities and practices, all great teachers have one thing in common -- they know their talents and they leverage them in the classroom. Participants in Strengths 101 will learn to define their top five strengths as assessed by the Clifton StrengthsFinder and apply their strengths in the classroom through strengths-based principles, concepts, and practices.

Strengths 201: Putting Strengths into Action in Middle School
Middle school is a prime time for student development. With the right tools, middle school teachers can implement a measurable and powerful strengths program within their schools or youth development programs. Through the experience of creating a successful impact plan, educators can proactively cultivate hope, well-being, and engagement among their students. Participants enrolled in Strengths 201 use Strengths Explorer, a Web-based strengths assessment specific to middle school students.

Strengths 202: Putting Strengths Into Action in High School
At a time when retention and further college education is crucial to students’ success, a knowledge of strengths aids students in aligning these strengths with future choices. Participants will be equipped to create an impact plan that will cultivate hope, well-being, and engagement among their students. Students in Strengths 202 use StrengthsQuest, a web-based strengths assessment specific to high school students.

Strength 203: Putting Strengths Into Action in Higher Education
A student’s journey into postsecondary education is a vital step in their self-discovery, and strengths development is an essential part of personal and professional success. Strengths 203 is designed to give college and university educators the tools and strengths implementation expertise to build a measurable and powerful strengths program on their campus. Participants in Strengths 203 use StrengthsQuest, a Web-based strengths assessment specific for college students, to design and implement a plan that optimizes hope, well-being, and engagement in the lives of postsecondary students. Whether you are affiliated with student affairs, Greek life, residential life, or another area of young adult development, Strengths 203 will individualize to your population, needs, and goals.

Strengths 204: Putting Strengths Into Action for Staff Development
Strengths 204 is designed to give middle school, high school, and higher education faculty or staff the tools and strengths implementation expertise to train a strengths initiative team or implement strengths initiatives with students. Participants in Strengths 204 will develop an impact plan that is individualized to their population, needs, and goals with a proactive focus on cultivating hope, well-being, and engagement.

Annual Recertification
Participants in Strengths Advocate will be expected to participate in an annual learning and discovery program in which the latest strengths research will be shared and participants will be able to contribute to the ongoing study of strengths by sharing their data and metrics with Clifton Strengths School.
